Genoa head to the Stadio Olimpico on Saturday needing a result that few would expect, against a Roma side that has not lost a league match this season.

Roma’s climb against Genoa’s slide

Roma sit third with 14 points from six matches and a goal difference of +11, a start that has them firmly in the conversation at the top of the table. Genoa are 17th in a 20-team league, with four points and a goal difference of -6. On paper the gap is wide, which is exactly why this fixture is interesting: the question is whether the underdogs can disrupt the hosts rather than simply survive them.

Roma’s steady run, Genoa’s losing sequence

Roma have scored ten goals and conceded three in their last five matches, collecting three wins and two draws in that spell. Their goal output has been productive at home, where they have averaged 2.7 goals per game this season.

Genoa have lost four of their six league games and have shipped nine goals in their last five. Their recent form reads a single win, a draw and three defeats, and they have yet to pick up a point away from home this season. Their five-match tally of five goals scored shows the problem is at both ends.

Five meetings, one Genoa win

The recent history favours Roma. Their last five meetings produced three home or away wins for the Giallorossi, one draw and just one Genoa victory: a 2-1 win for the visitors’ hosts in March 2026. Roma’s 3-1 wins in December 2025 and January 2025 show they have generally had the upper hand in this fixture.

Injury list tilts the balance

Roma will be without three players: Bah (knee injury), Malen (out after a red card) and Svilar (toe injury). Cristante (knee), Dybala and Kone (both injury) are doubts, so their availability will be tracked closely in the build-up.

Genoa face an even longer list of absences. Colombo and Havel are out with ankle injuries, while Meichtry (muscle), Sow and Venturino (knee) will also miss the trip. Amorim (inactive) and Otoa (injury) are doubts.

Our prediction

AS Roma 2-1 Genoa. Roma’s home form and superior attack should be enough to get them the points, but Genoa’s depleted squad still has the quality to create chances on the counter. Expect a tighter contest than the table suggests, with the hosts settling it late.
